Lightning Lane Updates at Walt Disney World – Starting July 24!

Walt Disney World is making it easier than ever to plan your magical day with new updates to the Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry.
Starting July 24, you can take the guesswork out of your visit and focus on the fun! Here’s everything you need to know about the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Simplifying the Magic
Disney is rolling out new names and features to bring clarity and convenience to your park planning.
Disney Genie+ will become the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and individual Lightning Lane will be known as the Lightning Lane Single Pass. These updates are designed to give you more control and confidence in your Disney experience.
So, What’s New?
Plan Ahead with Confidence
Starting July 24, you can make Lightning Lane plans before you even set foot in the park. This means less stress and more time for fun.
You can choose your experiences and times before purchasing, so you’ll know exactly what’s in store for your day.
Book for Multiple Days
With the new system, you can book Lightning Lane passes for multiple vacation days all in a single day, making your planning process smoother.
How Does It Work?
Once in Orlando, you can choose between the following (or both!) on the Disney Genie app:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
With this pass, you can make up to three Lightning Lane selections in a theme park before your visit. Choose available times as you make your selections.
On the day of your visit, once you use a selection, you can check the My Disney Experience app for availability to make additional selections.
Lightning Lane Single Pass:
- This pass allows you to secure a time for one of the most popular attractions, and now, you can plan this in advance.
- You can make your purchase and plan ahead for a more relaxed experience.
Planning Ahead
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel or select other hotels (Shades of Green Resort, Walt Disney World Swan, and Dolphin Hotels) can plan Lightning Lane passes up to seven days in advance for their entire stay (up to 14 days). Other guests can plan up to three days in advance. This advance purchase window lets you secure your must-do rides and experiences after considering dining reservations and other plans.
Combining Passes
Guests have the option to purchase both the Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. The app will be updated to streamline the purchase process, making it quicker and easier to buy and plan your passes in one transaction.
Lightning Lane Features to Look Forward To :
- Use the Lightning Lane entrance at select, high-demand attractions (up to two per day, per guest).
- Pre-plan up to three Lightning Lane experiences at one theme park in advance.
- Choose from two groups of experiences at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- Flexibility with Park Hopper benefits Pre-plan Lightning Lane Single Passes for experiences in two different theme parks if your admission includes Park Hopper benefits.
- Book new selections throughout the day once a selection has been redeemed.
